Pietrapiana was born in Buenos Aires, and has been living and working in New York City for more than ten years. He studied and worked with artists in Argentina and Italy, attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City and obtained an MA in art history from Lehman College. In 1996 he was awarded the Sheldon Bergh Award USA from the Basil Alkazzi Foundation. His work has been shown both in the US and South America.
