The WorkSpace
42-16 West Street : hosting artists
since 2001, this 20,000 sq foot building, donated by Bill Modell,
houses an incredible mix of artists' studios under one roof. The
WorkSpace has a rich history of collaborative work, youth programs,
civic projects and general outreach for arts in Long Island City
area. Weekly movie nights, open to the
general public, are held in the theatre every Wednesday at 8pm.

Public Space
Twice annually Space artists clean up and dress up public spaces
in the Long Island City area with art installations
including sculpture, paintings, and displays of local amenities. Our
goal is to reaffirm and expand the cultural heritage of Long Island
City.
The CivicSpace
28-10 Queens Plaza South :
Since its first gallery reception in 2001, this 16,000 sq foot building,
use of which was donated by Bill Modell, is a surprise find, providing
local area artists unique show opportunities, and twice annual receptions
for the public.

The BackSpace
At the end of Orchard Street : Space artists have cultivated a welding
factory and sculpture garden amid the traffic of Queens Plaza. This
outdoor lot, a full city block long was donated for use to The
Space in 2003 by Bill Modell, and has since grown to become one
of the top welding pads in the state of New York. The annual Texas
style BBQ held at BackSpace enables residents of Long Island City
and the surrounding neighborhoods to commune with art and each other
in pleasant surroundings.

Gallery
25-17 41st Avenue :
is our boutique gallery and collaborative artists' workspace. The
property, donated for use by the Arthur Levine Foundation in 2006,
provides both an administrative headquarters for The Space, and a
show space which highlights the work of a different artist each month.
Show openings are held on the first Friday
of every month and are open to the public.

Location 5 & The EventSpace
With tens of thousands of square feet on ground level the Event
Space is an excellent site for large scale gatherings for artists
and art lovers, and is available for use for community events. A
Village Voice choice for Best of alternative nightlife, the EventSpace
has been providing creative and safe space for public events in the
Queens Plaza area since 2002.
